Step Up Now serves the Fairbanks North Star Borough. As great as our magnificent state is, interior Alaska holds many challenges for youth from idleness and boredom in the winter to non-stop partying in the perpetual daylight of the summer. A great need exists to equip our youth to make healthy choices.
Direct Program Implementation
With this service, staff, who are fully trained in the components of each curriculum, will come to you and implement the curriculum to your young people. This consists of a three-hour session designed for high school and middle school students.
Train the Trainer
This service trains your teacher/youth director on the components of our program so that they can implement it themselves.
Parent Workshop
This service provides a comprehensive risk-avoidance message to not only parents but also other entities who encourage youth development. These workshops give tips on how to begin and have a successful conversation, as well as the importance of raising the bar for our youth of today.
Service Learning
We believe service learning is a part of the process for youth to emerge as leaders in their community. As our goal is to encourage youth to take responsibility for their lives, service learning opportunities offer youth a way to give back to their community.
We also offer
Community presentations, resources, and training. Step Up Now is a community outreach program; in addition to the schools we collaborate with other community organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Literacy Council, 21st Century Community Learning Center, Youth Services Fort Wainwright, Joel’s Place, and the Fairbanks Youth Facility.
